Here’s a nice bit of foil-blocked filigree I created for the good folks at Grade Design. I was asked to come up with a design for their Christmas card, drawing inspiration from a large iron compressed ‘G’ they have hanging in their office (I’ve posted a pick below) and mixing it with my blend of decorative drawing and hidden references. What I wouldn’t give to get my hands on that big bit of type, would look really great in my flat.

I was asked to contribute some pieces for a local exhibition at Start the Bus called Versus. Dave Ashby, the man behind the project got together 13 local illustrators, and asked each of us to tackle a particular set in a deck of cards. I went for the 9’s, below are my submissions. A big thanks goes out to Dave for getting me involved in the project.

Howdy all, I've left this a bit late I know but I'm very pleased to say I'm in a couple of shows this coming week. The first being 'Versus', kicking off here in Bristol tonight (Thursday 11th November) from 5.30pm at Start the Bus. If you're in town, be great to see you and maybe grab a beer or two.

During the summer I was asked by the good people at BetleyWhiteHorne, a design company on the island of Guernsey, to have a crack at an icon they had been having trouble with.
The mark was part of a new logo for the Guernsey Community Foundation and they wanted it to represent the Guernsey lilly flower. After receiving some reference material and a good chat with Piet Whitehorne, the creative director, I got my trusty brush pen out and set about a process of breaking down the aspects of the flower to create a mark as simple and graphic as possible.
I started by looking at the flower and working out a way to reflect it successfully. The first piece was a pretty realistic representation.

Issue 176 of Computer Arts magazine contains a very helpful feature on improving your images. Many artists and creative professionals were asked to provided tips to help readers. I was asked to give 10 focusing on Traditional Media.

Just a wee blog post to announce I'll be contributing to Memories, an art book that will be raising money for Maggie's Cancer Care Centres. I met Garrick Webster (one of the organisers) the other week at Tom Bagsaw's show and he's asked me to create an interpretation of a survivor story by Wendy Nichols.
There are some fantastic people involved, check out the website if you haven't already and you can find out more – www.memories.subism.co.uk The book is going to be a great help in putting some important messages across and raising much needed cash.
